Everytime I try to download anti virus software I for some reason lose my online connection anyone know why?

I only have dial up Netzero internet connection. It came with Norton anti virus disc to install. I run the disc to install and as soon as it gets close to being finished something is knocking me off line so that it doesn’t install the software. I start it all over and it does it again. I even tried a different software AVG anti virus and it does the same thing. Could this be a virus?

    If you already have a virus, Malwarebytes will find it and fix it.
