Lavasoft adaware you can get this from download.com and anti virus kapersky I use both of these adaware is for spyware and kapersky for viruses also always try to avoid downloading music etc from places like lime wire bearshare these tend to have loads of viruses. Clicking on links from any random site is also where you can get a virus use macafee site adviser when you use a search engine it shows up which sites are safe.

I always got viruses until I started using above. X

well i have avira. i recommend you to get avira even tough you think its not working because its one of the best… i think its good and reliable but only if you use it properly etc updating it time to time. i also have superantispyware which is also another good virus protection program because its detects viruses that are hard to track down better than other programs like AVG and i would recommend that to you also. ccleaner is another good program (not a virus program) because it cleans unwanted programs and files such as internet files and cookies from sites, it also repairs and cleans your registry, it can repair programs and setting and such etc… Mozilla Firefox is a good internet browser to have too as you wont get as much viruses compared to the previous internet browsers.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials (I rarely get viruses) and as a backup, I have SUPERantivirus and Malware Bytes Anti-malware (portable versions) on my flash drive.

    Best Free Anti Virus:

The BEST is Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus (it is the most effective out of all free programs and lightest on your resources ie RAM)

2nd BEST Avast! Free Anti Virus (More features than Avira, not that you would ever use them if you are advanced enough user, also it is more resorce heavy not recomended if you have a weak system)

    Retail Anti Virus:
    Avira
    G DATA
    Kaspersky
    NOD32

Cant go wrong with any of theese above difference is Avira+Kaspersky easy to use, G DATA+NOD32 more advanced.
