   No anti-virus program gives 100 pc security. All of them fail to detect virus one time or other. However, I would say avast works fine compared to others and it has good GUI too. In terms of memory consumption, it is better than norton.

   There is no such thing as a free anti virus that will completely protect your computer. Free anti virus apps have security holes in them or they wouldn’t be free. You get what you pay for. I’ve tried them all and every one of the free ones let me down. Norton’ I have had two versions of this program. The last one was 2009. It sucked just as bad as the free ones. I will never have another free anti virus program nor will i ever have another Norton program. Right now the best i have found that really works is Defender Pro powered by Kaspersky. It’s been the best one i have ever had so far. It doesn’t use a bunch of memory and it doesn’t wait for the Trojan to infect your machine before it detects it like Norton and the free ones does. It monitors what comes in and if bad code is spotted it slams the door shut right there before it has a chance to do damage. It will direct you away from the bad page. None of the free ones do that. Neither does Norton. It also has a self defense from hackers or Trojans that try to disable it. Try it.
