depends on where you work. if you can get into your email, set up so you get updates thru your email and log in through that. but, if you value your job you might just want to wait until you are on your own time before you go onto blocked sites because your it dept. can see every keystroke.

And you peep wonder why America outsources its jobs. Quit work and play at home. Let someone have the job who deserves it!

If those sites are blocked then those sites have been deemed business inappropriate and you should not attempt to go on those sites. All internet browsing can, and most of the time is, traced and recorded. Do you really want to risk being fired to update your facebook page?

As an employee, there’s really nothing you can do to unblock Facebook or Youtube at your work, only the employer is able to do so.

What you can do is use a proxy server, which allows you to surf the web anonymously without setting off any red flags.

I used to use this all the time in my computer class in high school when they blocked Facebook. There are many different sites that you can use, just keep in mind that some work better than others.

I used to use, but there are several others that you can find by just typing in “proxy servers” in google.

Your school or work filter can easily detect a proxy the very minute you try to use it and either block it on the fly or notify an admin to block it manually. There is no proxy that these new filter techniques cannot stop.

At the end of the day all proxy’s will eventually get blocked. As the filtering software gets more advanced they will get blocked faster and faster.

There is also the question of the rules and laws you are breaking by trying to hack their security system.

Proxies also leak all sorts of information through other applications not affected by the proxy like java and Flash. So you think you’re skating free not realizing how thin the ice really is.

Finally even if you get a proxy to work for a short time you are inviting the proxy owner, many of whom are using the proxy for hacking purposes, to infect and or hijack your school or work network. Read more on the problems with proxies below.

    You can try,

    For facebook use,

    and youtube,

use this instead of the http://www……. in the browser.

This will get you past the firewall, but they could track it.
