Which free anti virus should I use?

My mom is thinking about getting a new computer soon, but right now we’re just looking around. Anyways it’s about ten years old. It’s still Windows 98. I tried to download AVG and a few other free anti virus programs for the time being, but none seem to work. I just downloaded Dr. Web, is this a good free anti virus protector to use until we get our new computer? Nothing else seems to download on the computer.

    AVG is very good. Make sure you download the correct version.
