What is the most effective low lag anti virus system?

I currently use NOD32 and it’s fantastic however my license expires in 3 days and I was wondering if there was anything else that could compare. I was thinking maybe bit defender but I need a system that is low lag and does not hog all my recourses. Any Suggestions?

    Avast anti virus
    Avg anti virus

    Both free and don’t hog resources.

    Search here for them: http://www.majorgeeks.com

    I know it doesn’t really answer your question, but keep with NOD32, its far better by performance as well as lag than AVG or Avast, despite what the free-software hippies might tell you.

    I have used Norton, McAfee, AVG 7/8, Avast!, PC-cillin, F-Prot and NOD32. NOD32 is the most unintrusive and fastest out of all of them. I have a fairly slow computer (Athlon XP 2800+) so the performance differences are easily noticeable.

    I would renew your license with NOD32.

    However, if you must use something free, it also depends on your needs. If you don’t need realtime scanning, you can probably just use ClamWin (Free/Open Source), or Avast! with realtime scanning disabled. AVG 8 is good, but slow.

    Stay with Nod32;
    No anti-virus software -bought or free- is as secured & light on resources as Nod32
    “Picking up” a virus is more expensive than the protection afforded by your present program.
    [That is the reason why I went over to Nod32]

    nod32 still best in terms of system performance
