does anyone know a good free anti-virus program and a free way to fix regestry issues?

title says it all im dirt poor and my computer was givin to me but runs like crap i found the anti-virus was messing up my applications so i unistalled it does anyone know where to get a good anti-virus program for free and how to fix registrey errors for free

    AVG free edition for anti-virus program. CCleaner is great for fixing registry errors too.

    One of the free programs are AVG free. I don’t know of an easy way of fixing the registry besides reinstalling the windows directory (you are not reformatting…there is a difference). There is an option to do a “fix of windows” from the windows disk.

    Select Full Scan.
    Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:

    Select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan and remove infections, then click on Preferences, click Repairs Tab and click on any of the System and Browser Repair Items that you may have problems with then click Perform Repair.

    Spybot S&D:

    Download, install, update and Immunize, turn off Tea Timer then click ‘Check for problems’ then when complete select all and then ‘Fix Checked’
    Open Spybot, click on Mode, select Advanced, click on Tools then Resident and untick Resident ‘Tea Timer’
    Do NOT untick Resident ‘SD Helper’ as that is your protection.

    Click on the Cleaner Tab on the left and under Windows tick all boxes in Internet Explorer. If you save your username/passwords untick ‘Autocomplete Form History’ and under System tick all boxes except the last 2, and leave Advanced all unticked.
    Then click on the Applications tab and tick all apart from Saved form information if you use Firefox and save your username/passwords
    Click on Options then Settings and under Secure Deletion mark the Secure file deletion (slower) and use the drop down to select Guttman (35 passes)
    Please note that some files are ‘locked’ but will be removed on shutdown.

    The answer for a good anti-virus program for free would be from Avast. Hands down. I used AVG and had to go to Avast for better results. As for the registry errors…I don’t know about free but check the link below for a site that has some great information on windows OS. What are the registry errors you receive?
