No, Antivirus software is not a complete shield!

Always be careful and sensible with what you download and how you act online.

Not necessarily. Avast is very good, but nothing is 100%. If you’re talking about torrents or something along those lines, you could catch something that will be very difficult to remove. You might even have to reinstall your operating system. You should install Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware on your pc in case anything gets through Avast, just to be on the safe side.

Antivirus software is like a condom. You’re pretty well protected, but you can still catch something if you are indiscriminate in your actions. The best way to avoid viruses and spyware is to educate yourself and think about what you are doing.

The thing to remember about antivirus software is that the virus writers also have a copy of it, and are looking for any vulnerabilities in it.

You need more than an anti-virus program to keep you safe!

There is no one BEST program for everyone! Each person’s individual computer usage is completely different. Some folks download illegal programs and music, which exposes them to more infections than any other behavior. Some folks only read their email and do some light surfing.

Because usage is different, the appropriate software is different for everyone.

Here is a list of free programs that do their job well, for various security tasks. Most of the time, several programs are necessary to maintain a full range of security/protection against viruses, trojans, worms, etc.

There is a safe site, with software reviews by both the editors and users at http://www.download.com Most of the following programs can be downloaded from there.

    ANTI-VIRUS:
    -AVG by Grisoft
    -Avira
    -Avast
Any *one* of these would probably work well for you! Read the reviews to be sure.

    ANTI-SPYWARE:
Since NONE of the anti-spyware/anti-adware programs are 100 percent accurate in finding and removing spyware, you need *at least* two programs which you will run one after the other, not at the same time.

There are several excellent free ones:
    -Spybot, Search and Destroy
    -Ad-Aware
    -Spyware Blaster
    -Superantispyware
    -Malwarebytes

    FIREWALL:
    -Comodo
    -Online Armor
    -SandBoxie
    -Sunbelt Personal Firewall (formerly Kerio)
    -Zone Alarm

    GENERAL CLEANING:
    -Ccleaner

    HTH!

(If U Can’t Download Anything Burn The Programs To A Cd With Someone’s Pc Or Put It On A USB Flash Drive…)

    (For Safe Mode)
F8 – By pressing the F8 key right when Windows starts, usually right after you hear your computer beep when you reboot it, you will be brought to a menu where you can choose to boot into safe mode. If it does not work on the first try, reboot and try again as you have to be quick when you press it. I have found that during boot up right after the computer shows you all the equipment , memory, etc installed on your computer, if you start lightly tapping the F8 key you will usually be able to get to the desired menu.
