When I try to install free anti-virus downloads, why does Runtime terminate the application?” ?

I am operating with Windows 98, Internet Explorer version 6.0 and just when I thought I was gonna get protection with the free anti-virus download, installation failed because of C++ “Runtime error”.
If it’s not one thing it’s thirty-one more, please someone educate my intelligence and bring me up to speed– thank you.

First thing you have to do is go to “Add/Remove Programs”. You must remove any existing applications of virus programs. There may still be a virus protection program on your computer that either came with the computer or you have updated that program over time. After you have removed that virus protection program restart your computer and download the new virus protection program. Good Luck! Hope it works for you.

It must be a firewall or windows trying to tell you to get a beter antivirus or that that antivirus is a virus
