AVG is no longer free I think. You can’t download virus definition update so, is it free? and if paying for Anti virus, Norton is the best. What ever people say about it but Norton will give you the best possible protection.

I like Avast. It’s free, and won’t slow down your system like Norton will.

Just to clarify, there is a ‘best’ only in certain areas, and the claim is usually short lived. This years car of the year won’t be the car of the year next year. Same with Virus protection. It’s all about definitions, & the processing of code… Right now, the free proggies I suggest to peeps are of course Avg, and Avast. However, I am impressed with Spyware Terminator. Its more than a Spyware, its a suite! The anti-virus is part of it, but doesn’t install unless you set it up. Also, has a browser add like google, etc, but is VERY configurable. Might be more than you are looking for. EA is off my list for now, and Armour also…

Avast or AVG, Avira is the third most popular, must run only one anti virus at a time. I prefer Avast. Don’t forget that a firewall is also indispensable.
