What is the best free anti-virus program to install or download link?

Hello I have windows vista laptop and somehow my anti virus just uit working and i ended up erasing it and trying to find a better one for free. I use stopsgn and when i removed it it made my internet connection and computer slow.

the only thing tht is protecting this computer is avast and super antispyware. but still my computer keeps telling me to install a antivirus program.
