If you want a decent anti-virus i suggest you use AVG from Girsoft. They have a free version that I use on the computers at work.

    Try Avira Anti-vir

    From

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Avira_AntiVir_Personal_-_Free_Antivirus_d955.html

It rocks, and has saved my system a few times.

Edit: To remove norton, download the removal tool. Otherwise it just leaves junk entries in your registry.

Go to download.com and download AVG software it’s the number one download.

Also, see if you can update your current antivirus software by changing the date on your computer to when the antivirus software was within your free trial period. Right click over the clock that is at the bottom right hand corner of the monitor and select time and date and go from there.

Its good to download Ad-Aware 2008 and Spy Bot Search and Destroy when you are at downloads. com great FREE softwares to run on your pc for malicious ware. UPDATE SOFTWARES weekly to have the best proctection possible.

Hello Alicia H. You can get grisoft avg for all computers for Free. Here is the link to click on to get started. (http://free.grisoft.com) Once at the site make sure to look for the Free version ok. OH! and one more very important thing that you need to know, before you install Any other antivirus program make sure that you Uninstall nortons first because if not then any other antivirus program that you attempt to install (want) because you can only have 1 antivirus program installed on your computer at one time , and if another antivirus program manager to be installed they will be in conflict with nortons. Good Luck lady

First you need to run Norton removal tool:

Now you ask for a good FREE anti virus protect program – Well that leaves out AVG then.

Use free Avira or free Avast both are good & a lot better than AVG.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy a spyware killer for years. I have recently added superantispyware. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
