Is there a good anti-virus that warns you about bad websites including avira?

i have avira which is a very good antivirus but i dont think that it has website warning so i also have macafee but although it warns about bad websites its not very good at detecting viruses. plus two antiviruses are bad and take up a lot of space. does avira have website warning and if not is there a good anti virus that does?

i’m using Avast! Free Antivirus 5.0. The new version has been released on their website. It s a freeware. You can register yourself on the avast website to recive the registration key . They provide timely updates (small in size, ie. In kb’s. Which s usefull for people with limited internet plans ). It s fully legal n it generates a virus recovery database to report avast about the new viruses .
To detect n delete malwares on your comp use malware bytes . Another free software . N a powerfull tool to clean your comp of malwares. I use these softwares myself .

I have found Avast 5.0 to do that. It can get a bit irritating at times when you know for a fact that you’re on a good site but it doesn’t think so.

You can download McAfee Site Advisor as a free browser addon from the following web site. It uses the same technology built into McAfee AV products but it’s standalone and without the virus scanning engine, therefore it won’t affect your other AV product.

This way you can continue to use your chosen AV software whilst getting the benefit of site advisor for free.

Avast, AVG and SiteAdvisor all perform what you’re looking for.

In addition to Avast and SiteAdivsor, you could install Peerguardian 2, and have it blocking known bad HTTP addresses. I’ve found this to be both useful, and a pain at the same time, because sometimes it reports false positives, or hangs in certain sites that should be treated as legit. However, if you’re uber security aware, it’s not a bad program to be running in addition to Avast and / or SiteAdvisor.

I personally thing that Norton is about as good as it gets for what you describe. Check out this review:

You can check websites directly by searching at:

My World of Trust at http://www.mywot.com/
MyWOT does not scan for malware, members of the site post comments. When a site is BAD you’ll see a lot of red and a lot of complaints.
There is also a “whois” clickable link for DomainTools which will look up the site for you and show you what Internet Registrar has registered the site and what domain servers are handling the site, and a brief history of registrations (more history requires payment).

    SiteAdvisor from McAfee at http://www.siteadvisor.com/
Site Advisor scans websites for malicious downloads, and they provide a clickable graphic that allows you to see more information about sites. Really neat.
They also give an email address to the site to see how much spam the site sends out.
They also allow members to post comments. When a site is BAD you’ll see a lot of red and complaints.

    SafeWeb from Norton at http://safeweb.norton.com/
SafeWeb scans websites for malware, but I have found their reports are good and green when MyWOT and SiteAdvisor are all RED.
They allow members to post comments. There are often no comments, or only one comment. I have seen sites green and one – only one – comment saying the site is malware.
When they say a site is BAD it is really bad !

I suggest putting the three sites above in your favorites so you can check websites out quickly.

I have put the above three sites in the search panel in Internet Explorer 8, but it’s rather difficult, and I can’t remember how I did it.
