Free for Vista is Microsoft Security Essentials. And for it being a Microsoft program, it’s rather decent and free.

Avast is one the best AV programs you can get

I would also download Malwarebytes ( its free too) to help supplement any AV program you download

Avira Anti Virus Personal is free, and it is the best scoring free virus scanner. Personally I use Kaspersky, but before Kaspersky, I used Avira Anti Virus Personal, and it protected me nicely, but I wanted a banner blocker so I upgraded to Kaspersky. AVG free edition. It’s free, its somewhat light on system resources, and detects many of today’s viruses.

    Download at: http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-10044820&subj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=11014801

firs go to http://www.downloaditfreenow.com and look on the download page download “malwarebytes”
anti malware and run that, then go to http://www.downloaditfreenow.com/avast and download avast
these are both free programs and the avast has ad ware and spyware detectors which will help a lot,
keep the firewall up in windows although some of the crap that is out there will stillcrawl over…Bob

Try Microsoft Security Essentials – it’s a free download and it defends your computer against viruses, spyware, worms, trojans, and other malicious software. This link will help: http://smb.ms/Outreacha6GnA3
